Our first priority in teaching swimming is to make everyone safe in and around the water.  Second, swimming provides for one of the best forms of fitness for all ages.  And third, by becoming comfortable around the water and skilled in basic swimming techniques, one finds the aquatic world is filled with a multitude of recreational activities that add to the overall enjoyment of life.

Group lesson Format for 2023-24

School Year Group Lesson Registration Process

Families will register using our Jackrabbit class management platform. We will use the following prioritization for acceptance to the program: Westerville Aquatic Club (WAC) families will receive first priority registration, followed by returning SwimAmerica families (from the 2022-23 School Year or later), and finally new families or those who are returning from prior to fall 2022.

Group Lesson Schedule

The following will be the expected schedule for lessons throughout the year. Additional days/times will be added if pool/staff availability allows.

Saturdays @ JC Pool:  12:10pm and 12:45pm

Sundays @ Oakstone Pool: 12:15pm, 12:50pm, 1:30pm, and 2:05pm

All classes will be 30 minutes.

Group Lesson Format

New swimmers will be assessed within the first 10 minutes of their first class. Groups are formed based on ability level, and swimmers are grouped with peers of a similar age range who are working on mastering the same skills. Each station (1-10) has a different set of mastery goals, building on what athletes have mastered in the previous stations. Once a swimmer demonstrates mastery of their station's advancement goals, they are immediately moved up to the next station. No one will stay in one particular station for any specific amount of time, and advancement will be different for each student. This ensures every swimmer in our program is receiving instruction at their level, and all are working toward mastery!
